Why Should I Buy Stainless Steel Banding?
If you work in construction or are partial to a DIY project, steel banding can come in very handy. Here at BS Fixings, we supply a wide variety of high-quality products, from fixings and fasteners to home and garden tools, but most importantly we are specialists when it comes to stainless steel.
Stainless steel is a very common metal used in engineering, construction, and even for general use, and there are many reasons as to why it is a popular material choice. Stainless steel banding is used for a range of applications, including sign fixing, insulation, and pipework. It is a preferred material for bonding, due to its tensile and durable properties. Within the construction and industrial industries, structures such as pipelines are exposed to harsh conditions and when left untreated can become corroded and damaged. Steel banding is useful in welding these back together, providing an incredibly strong bonding that will not break. It would take a considerable amount of force and pressure to affect the banding, making them a very effective solution.
The Common Uses for Stainless Steel Banding
- Repairing damaged pipelines and metal jacketing.
- Securing heavier loads in place, such as trailers and shipping containers.
- Reinforcing weaker structures.
- Strapping goods in place over long distance hauls, such as timber and steel beams.
Steel banding is the most valued strapping method, as it can hold some of the heaviest loads and can withstand extreme weather conditions. Not only can stainless steel banding withstand exposure to rain, but it is also unaffected by ultraviolet rays. Steel banding can hold up against hot and sunny weather, unlike some plastic forms which can weaken when exposed to these elements, making it a very high-performing product.
Types of Stainless Steel Banding
At BS Fixings, we offer two types of Bandfix® stainless steel banding – standard edge and safe edge. Safe edge banding is generally used when there is a risk of materials coming into contact with bare hands, such as signs. The banding is designed with a smooth edge, meaning you can handle it without gloves. Standard edge is used for larger projects, for example securing metal jacketing. The stainless steel banding we offer here at BS Fixings, is available in different grades, widths, and thickness, and is suitable for a wide range of uses.
Types of Closures
Although stainless steel banding can be used to secure other materials in place, they must also be secured. At BS Fixings, we offer many banding closures, including stainless steel buckles, wing seals, closed seals, and clamps. For examples, our Bandfix® stainless steel buckles are popular in the sign industry, used to secure the strapping of a sign around a post, and our Bandfix® closed seals are perfect for tightly holding in place cladding and cables. Just like our banding, these closures are resistant to corrosion, providing you with long-term functionality.
