Clout nails, also known as roofing nails or shingle nails, are common in everyday life even if you do not see them, as they are used in attaching sheet material to wooden frames or sheets. Common ways that clout nails are used is in the fastening of shingle, felt, asphalt, and slate to roofing. They are utilised for tasks such as this due to being somewhat short and thick, with a big yet flat head which is ideal.

Here at BS Fixings, we stock a range of different types of clout nails for all of your material fastening tasks. We are now going to talk about a couple of different types we stock here on our online store.

The first type we are going to talk about is the standard Galvanised Clout Nails. Due to being galvanised, the nails are resistant to corrosion, which is ideal for a task such as felting a shed roof because the nail must be able to withstand all the weather conditions to maintain its integrity within the structure of the shed. We sell these nails in the length of 30mm or 40mm, both having a 2.65mm diameter, and a 9mm head, sold in 1kg boxes. These nails also have a different version with a larger head, which you can find on our online store.

The next type of clout nail we stock is the Copper Clout Nails. Copper naturally boasts antibacterial properties, making it ideal for indoor or outdoor use. Copper is also corrosion resistant which ensures reliability in its outdoor use. We sell these in lengths of 30mm or 38mm, both having a diameter of 7mm, and a 9mm head, also sold in boxes of 1kg. These nails have a large head version too, which we also stock.
