Whether fully supported or unsupported installations, this airtight and vapour permeable membrane is a reliable choice for various roofing applications, including warm and cold roofing setups, Scottish sarking boards, and timber and metal framed constructions.
Key Benefits:
- BBA certified, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Conforms to BS5534.2014 Annex A for added reliability.
- Suitable for both warm and cold applications.
- UV stable for up to 3 months, providing durability during roof construction.
- Vapour permeable, allowing proper ventilation and reducing moisture buildup.
- Serves as a waterproof membrane, ensuring protection from the elements.
- Demonstrates resistance to extreme temperatures for enhanced longevity.
- Rigorously tested through laboratory quality control to meet industry standards.
Installation:
-
Preparation:
- Ensure the ceiling is well sealed and free from any leaks or gaps.
- Check that the roof ridge height does not exceed 15 meters.
- Verify that the roof pitch falls within the range of 12.5° to 75°.
- Ensure the site altitude does not exceed 100m above sea level.
- Make sure there is no significant site topography present.
-
Placing the Membrane:
- Lay the Rooftec Breathable Membrane directly over the rafters on the insulating material.
- Stretch the membrane horizontally over the entire roof surface, ensuring even coverage.
- Provide a minimum overlap of at least 20cm at the ridge for proper sealing.
-
Tapered Lap:
- Use a batten lap of 345mm for pitches between 12.5° to 22°.
- For pitches over 22°, overlap the membrane sheeting by at least 20cm.
-
Securing and Sealing:
- Use membrane adhesive tape to secure seams, overlaps, butt joints, and any potential damage to the membrane.
- For connections to other substrates like masonry, use silicone or self-adhesive butyl tapes for a reliable seal.
-
Quality Check:
- Conduct a thorough inspection of the installed membrane for proper coverage and adhesion.
- Ensure there are no gaps or areas of weakness in the installation.
