The Difference Between Banding Buckles and Banding Clips
Banding clips and banding buckles are two metal fastening devices commonly used in industrial and commercial applications. Although they can both be used to secure straps and other items, there are a few differences that set them apart.
Banding clips are designed as single-use items. They are used for light-duty applications such as bundling together wires, cables, and hoses. They are made from hardened steel and can be easily locked into place using an ordinary pair of pliers.
Banding buckles, on the other hand, are designed for more heavy-duty applications. They are made from thicker, harder steel and are typically used for securing items in place for longer periods of time. Banding buckles are also more secure than banding clips as they are often secured in place using a unique locking mechanism.
They are supplied in both grade 304 (A2) and grade 316 (A4) stainless steel.
304 grade
Grade 304 stainless steel buckles have a high resistance to corrosion and are the most common grade buckles. In short, they are more resistant to corrosion than the grade 201 Stainless Steel Sign Fixings Buckles, but not as resistant as grade 316. They are suitable for harsh environments, however may corrode over a period of time.
316 grade
Grade 316 has a higher resistnce to corrosion. This grade is recomended if these buckles are being used in a corrosive enviroment, for example coastal destinations where they are exposed to salt in the air. This grade is the most expensive when buying up front, but it lasts longer so over a period of time it will save you having to replace them.
