• Vista GEML Galvanised Expanded Metal Lath is a versatile lathing product used to provide a strong key for plaster on suspended ceilings and walls
• It can also be used to help encase steel columns and beams as part of fire protection applications
• Manufactured from galvanised mild steel, this expanded metal lath offers a reliable background for plaster and render while helping to reduce the risk of cracking
• Commonly used across internal plastering work, GEML can be fixed to brickwork, blockwork, timber, steel and concrete when the appropriate fixings are used
• The expanded mesh profile helps plasterers achieve a smooth and even finish, making it a practical choice for both new build and refurbishment projects
• Each sheet measures 2438mm x 685mm x 0.4mm and is manufactured from galvanised mild steel DX51D+Z275 with a 275g/m² zinc coating
• The product has a reaction to fire classification of Class A1 and is produced to BS EN 13658-1:2005
• The datasheet also notes handling care due to the rough surface and sharp edges associated with expanded metal products
• Sheets can be cut to size on site using tin snips. For storage and transport, bundles should be kept laid flat and in dry conditions

Installation guidance

• GEML should be fixed with the long way of the mesh running from support to support, with all strands sloping downwards and inwards from the face of the coating.
• Allow for overlaps of 50mm lengthways and 25mm widthways when installing. 

Fixing to timber

• Use 40mm galvanised nails or staples at 100mm centres. Start fixing at the centre of the sheet and work towards the edges, fixing at an angle to pull the lath tight. 

Fixing to metal

• Tie to steel channels using 1.2mm tying wire at 100mm centres. Form the wire into a hairpin shape, pull tight and twist into place. Keep cut wire ends away from the plaster surface. 

Fixing to solid backgrounds

• Use a suitable fixing with an integral spacer or washer and a large diameter headed screw or nail to hold the sheet firmly in place.
