Cavity screw ties are a type of wall tie used in cavity wall construction. They are designed to connect the inner and outer leaves (or skins) of a cavity wall, which are typically made of brick, block, or stone. The ties provide stability and ensure the two layers of the wall work together structurally while maintaining an insulating gap (the cavity) between them.

Cavity screw ties can also feature a drip design or come with a rubber ring that acts as a drip. These features are crucial for preventing moisture from crossing the cavity between the inner and outer walls. The drip design or ring ensures that any water that collects on the tie will drip off before reaching the inner leaf, helping to maintain the integrity of the wall's insulation and preventing damp issues inside the building.

Key features of cavity screw ties include:

Screw-in design: Unlike traditional wall ties that are embedded in mortar, cavity screw ties are installed by screwing them into both the inner and outer layers, making them ideal for retrofit applications where new ties need to be added to existing walls.

Corrosion resistance: Many are made from stainless steel or galvanized steel to resist corrosion, ensuring long-term durability.

Thermal performance: By maintaining the cavity, these ties help to prevent thermal bridging, which improves the wall's insulation performance.
They are commonly used in both new builds and for repairing or strengthening existing cavity walls.
